Review – AMVR Quest 3 Facial Interface (Q3FC3)

When we talk about upgrades for the Quest 3, most people go straight to a better head strap for balance or a battery to extend playtime. But the facial interface — the part that’s in direct contact with your skin — matters just as much. It even becomes almost essential when you share the headset during Beat Saber sessions with friends: I don’t want to deal with everyone’s sweat soaked into the stock foam.

A simple silicone cover on top of the stock interface can help, but here I’m testing a facial interface that goes further for comfort and adjustments: the AMVR Q3FC3.

How a facial interface can improve comfort

  • Better face-to-lens distance adjustment

  • Improved airflow and lower risk of fogging

  • Reduced light leak around the nose

  • More even pressure distribution on the face

  • Nicer skin feel

  • Quick cleaning

  • Doesn’t absorb sweat or makeup, especially useful during group sessions

  • Fewer face marks after playing

We’ll cover each point below.

What’s in the box

  • Q3FC3 facial interface (with Y-shaped ventilation grilles)

  • Two cushions: PU leather + gel (easy to wipe) and ice silk + gel (more breathable)

  • Detachable nose light-blocker

  • Setup/adjustment guide

Installation & adjustments

The install is “plug-in”: pop off the stock interface (honestly the most delicate step — it always feels like I might break something), then click the Q3FC3 onto the four anchors.

The nose light-blocker comes pre-installed; it works, but it feels a bit fragile.

I had a Maecker Elite strap mounted during the install and had no compatibility issues.

The depth-adjustment knobs don’t get in the way.

Face-to-lens distance adjustment

A — Stock Quest 3 depth adjustment
B — Q3FC3 depth adjustment

This is the part that matters most if you wear glasses.

Unlike its predecessor, the Quest 3 has a built-in depth adjustment on the interface itself (Photo A), so you don’t need a spacer anymore.

The AMVR interface adds side knobs (Photo B). The idea is great; however, I was a bit disappointed with the precision. There are three positions you can identify by small, unmarked ticks (see Photo B). I would have liked a simpler system with numbers directly on the knob for the three positions. That said, the adjustment is there, and the knob is still more convenient than the stock system.

Ventilation & fog

On this point, there’s no contest. The stock interface has no vents. The four ventilation ports on the Q3FC3 clearly improve air circulation, carry heat away, and significantly reduce fogging.

Light blocking

The Q3FC3 includes a detachable nose piece. The result is solid: much less light in that area, which boosts immersion. You can remove it to clean the interface. It does feel a bit delicate — the soft plastic is very thin — and it occasionally tickles my nose if it’s not clipped just right.

Comfort

The PU-leather look already gives a more premium, comfy impression.

The interface comes with two cushions you can swap quickly thanks to the Velcro backing:

  • The PU leather cushion became my daily: it doesn’t keep sweat, one microfiber wipe and it’s good to go.

  • The ice silk cushion is great for intense sessions (Beat Saber, PowerBeats…), because it’s more breathable and absorbs sweat. You’ll need to hand-wash it with mild soap. You can even put it in the fridge for a few minutes before playing for extra coolness.

The thickness spreads pressure well across the face, especially on the forehead. The top section of the Q3FC3 is wider than the stock interface.

Both cushions are comfortable and feel good on the skin.

The PU cushion makes it easier to share the headset with friends or family because it’s easy to wipe clean and doesn’t absorb sweat. A big advantage compared to a simple silicone cover is that the PU cushion doesn’t leave marks on the face — I’ve had strong face marks with silicone in the past.

What I liked

  • The knob system for depth adjustment

  • Effective ventilation

  • Two cushions to choose from: PU (easy to clean) / ice silk (breathable)

  • Overall comfort clearly better than stock

  • Easy upkeep and better hygiene

What I’d like improved

  • The knob adjustment could be more precise — ideally with graduations

  • Nose piece feels a bit fragile and can sometimes be a little annoying

  • PU leather looks/feels good now, but I’m curious about long-term durability

Who I recommend it to

  • If you play long or active sessions (fitness, rhythm)

  • If you often share sessions with friends or family

  • If you wear glasses or want quick, precise adjustments

  • If you want an interface that’s easy to clean and more breathable than stock

Verdict

For me, the AMVR Q3FC3 is a worthwhile upgrade to the Quest 3. You gain comfort, heat management, and adjustability without headaches. It’s not perfect, but day-to-day the difference is very real. If you want something easy to maintain with strong comfort, this interface does the job very well.
